How HomeScape has presented their unique carport cum roof-mounted SPV plant design to Fujitsu?
Overview
HomeScape is a residential wing of Amplus Solar (A member of Petronas) and has been associated with ARKA 360 for over 2 years. Recently they have designed a solar project for Fujitsu, which is the largest IT products and services provider in Japan and sixth largest in the world.
This solar power project is over 200 Kilowatts (kW) and can generate more than 300 Megawatts of electricity annually. This project also consists of the Carport solar plant installation of about 90 KW which HomeScape has presented in their design through the ARKA 360 software.
Approach
HomeScape design team started with a detailed technical site visit to the Fujitsu site at Noida, Uttar Pradesh where the team collected the site’s structure (measurements, thickness, roof load capacity, etc.) as well as electrical data (Termination point, cable routing, Single Line Diagram, etc.) for immaculate designing and comprehensive simulation. After the completion of the site visit, the next task was to propose a design and capacity that can be installed on the site.
Abhishek, a member of HomeScape design team started with the ARKA 360 software to map the site as per the details recorded during site visit for capacity estimation and generation analysis. It took him only half-hour to complete the elevated roof-mounted solar power plant design with a crisp proposal.
The proposal was shared and presented to Fujitsu, where they requested for additional capacity and after a few meetings, team presented a unique SPV design with elevated roof-mount cum carport installation with a proposed capacity of 214 kW.
How ARKA 360 made the process more efficient?
With the help of just a polygon tool, the design team was able to design a perfect 3-rowed portrait carport structure he created the overall design in 2D, and after defining a few properties like height, tilt, and azimuth, the 3D view came out to be better than imagined.
Also Solar Access tool made the process quick by deleting the shaded modules and helped in achieving Performance Ratio (PR) of more than 75%.
The Final Results
Arka 360 software made it possible for the HomeScape team to present the first design to Fujitsu within a day including the site visit. With the help of this software, the entire project was designed by just one Design Engineer and each design took less than 30 minutes to complete saving plenty of time in-turn reduces the manpower and cost involved. The final carport + roof-mounted design was analysed by the Shadow Analysis tool integrated in the software itself which calculated the shadow free time of overall SPV plant to be 99.2% throughout the year.
